Next Generation Sequencing

Sequencing is an essential tool in research into rare diseases. Seven sequencing platforms from different suppliers could be acquired in 2010 and 2011 thanks to funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). These are now available for the research networks on rare diseases.
In this manner, several mutations could be already be allocated to specific diseases or new genetic defects described.
In 2012, six sequencing instruments were updated, supported by BMBF.

An overview of the sequencing platforms offers contacts and main aspects of research. Additional information will become visible by clicking on the sites.
