Coordinating Office Munich

In 2010, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF, Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung) promoted the closer collaboration of the research networks on rare diseases. Within the frameworks thereof, a board of speakers as decision-making and coordinating body for the overarching collaboration was called into existence. Prof. Dr. Thomas Klopstock, co-ordinator of the mitoNET research network, was elected spokesman in April, 2019.

Moreover, the BMBF finances a coordinating office to assist the board of speakers. This office serves as liaison between the research networks, facilitates the exchange of information and supports the board of speakers in the implementation of its projects. It acts as information platform for the individual research networks. It is located in the Department of Neurology, Friedrich-Baur Institute for Nerve and Muscle Diseases, of the University Hospital Munich.
