Coordinating Office Munich
In 2010, the research networks formed a board of speakers as decision-making and coordinating body. Prof. Dr. Rebecca Schüle, co-ordinator of the TreatHSP.net research network, is elected spokesperson, Prof. Dr. Thomas Klopstock, co-ordinator of the mitoNET research network, is elected deputy.
Moreover, the BMBF finances a coordinating office to assist the board of speakers. The office serves as a liaison between the research networks, supports the board of speakers in the implementation of its projects and acts as information platform for the research networks. It is located in Munich, Friedrich Baur Institute, Department of Neurology, LMU University Hospital, LMU Munich.

ObjectivesThe tasks of the co-ordinating office are:
- Support of the board of speakers in establishing national and international cooperations
- Contribution to nationwide initiatives in the field of rare diseases
- Science communication / public relations
- Organisation of conferences and other networking events / meetings
- Collaboration with patient organisations
- Support for young scientists
